Q10518 - HOWTO: Amending Forms

Florida File Amended Returns

If you find yourself in a situation where you must retransmit a return, you may have to unlock your forms.  To do this you will have to place a file in your working directory.

To find out what your working directory is, go to your Help Menu > About Florida File. The working directory will be listed. Note your working directory and paste a blank text file in there named "amend.dat".

Follow these instructions to create this file:

1.     Browse to your programs Working Directory

2.     From the top menu bar in Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options

3.     Within Folder Options, go to the View Tab

4.     Approximately 9 entries down you will see the option, Hide Extensions for Known File Types

5.     Make sure this option is Unchecked, click Ok

6.     From the top menu bar in Windows Explorer (still in the Working Directory), go to File > New > Text Document

7.     A new document will appear with highlighted text, delete the name "New Text Document.txt", change it to "amend.dat". Click away from the file once created

8.     You will receive a message confirming if you want to change the file extension, click Yes

The presence of this file will unlock your form and you will be able to modify the information on your return.  A duplicate flag may be still set on our servers, so you may have to contact Trustfile Support to have your flag lifted to allow filings.
